You probably already know this but it connects from Manhattan to Brooklyn over the East River.

Fine Art Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Photos Step#1: Travel Light My typical engagement sessions are 90 mins, I highly recommend traveling light as possible because there is going to be some walking involved. (If you plan to have a change of wardrobe or your pet tag alone I recommend having a friend to help) Fine Art Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Photos Step#2: Street Parking & Parking. If you are planning to find street parking I highly recommend arriving 20 ~ 30 mins before your session time because it can be hard sometime finding the parking. (I use the app called smooth park its free and it shows you where you can park) Paid parking is available but they are going to charge you a arm for it :) (Typically $40 ~ $60 I think) Sunset is a great time for your Fine Art Brooklyn Bridge engagement photographs for a few reasons:

The lighting will be soft so that you can get that airy & light look to your photos. 2. Visiting the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset is a must experience! It’s something everyone should at least once, so why not do a engagement session too? 3. How about making it a date night after the session? There are some great restaurants near by that you can make reservations for and also Timeout Rooftop view has ton of great eatery and amazing Beer!!

Fine Art Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Photos Step#3: What to wear? * Clothing Colors: in general, muted and earthy tones tend to look best in engagement photos. Since the Brooklyn Bridge is primarily a brown backdrop, I would avoid wearing brown & grey tops. * For Women: Flowy dresses and skirts look AMAZING on camera, floral patterns also look great, but make sure not to clash patterns with your significant other. Try to coordinate color schemes, look for inspiration on Pinterest or even eyeshadow/makeup palettes, they tend to coordinate colors that go well together. * For Men: One thing I always recommend for men is to keep it simple. Suits, slacks, button-downs, jeans, or whatever feels more authentic to you is what will look best on camera. Avoid crazy patterns, neon shirts, or clothing with words on it- these can be distracting and take away from the photographs. * Outfit Change: If you’re looking for a variety in your photos, think about ways to switch up your outfit. As the Brooklyn Bridge is a very open space, there is limited privacy to change up there. Adding a jacket, sweater or other accessories are great ways to switch it up during your session. You can also utilize the bathroom at Timeout or Dumbo Starbucks its about a 10min walk. This is another way to shoot at another location afterwards. * Shoe Choice: the Brooklyn Bridge walkway consists of wooden boards with small gaps in-between. Stiletto high-heels are VERY difficult to walk in on the bridge. If you still want to wear heels for your pictures, pick a block or thicker heel instead.

Now that you know how to get there, when to go and what to wear during your session, here are some extra tips.

1. Public bathrooms & Outfit changes. There are no bathrooms when you’re on the Brooklyn Bridge, so I highly recommend to plan accordingly. The Dumbo Starbucks has the public restroom and the Timeout.

2. Be prepare for the different weather that The Brooklyn Bridge tends to bring. In the summer basically there is no shade, so sunglasses, water and lightweight clothing can be helpful. In the colder months prepare for wind and bring an extra layer on in-between your photos and when you’re walking on and off the bridge. (Also flat shoes for ladies in-between walking)

3. Factor in extra time for walking on the bridge and going to Dumbo areas. If you’re planning a session trying to figure out how much time you will need, make sure to factor in about 10 mins each way to walk to the bridge and to dumbo area.

4. Dumbo! Spicy up your session by going to the cobblestone streets, skyline view on the water, Jane’s carousel, timeout roof top and more!

NYC/NJ/Boston Fine Art Wedding Photography

You might be wondering what is Fine Art Wedding photography? It’s typically known as natural soft light + natural light + beauty of the subject and shallow depth of field. On top of that color tones like pastel or ethereal beauty has close connection to it. As a NYC/NJ/Boston based photographer I would love to share my thoughts on the topic.

The approach to taking the naturally without being too posy or cheesy is very important and that itself is art. When moments happen on the wedding day they tend to happen very fast and it’s crucial your fine art photographer is like a ninja that knows his gear, and light and anticipates the moment to capture it. (Yes that’s a short description of our wedding photography style!)

We love to celebrate emotions, story telling, fun and uniqueness! My clients describe some of my work as candid or fine art style, My work started off heavily influenced by Fine Art Film Style. I fell in love with wedding photography because of creating and capturing moments for my friends to cherish forever! It helped me realized that I was able to connect with my friends at another genuine level with the moments I captured. After shooting nearly over 1000 plus weddings My style has evolved and I am consistently learning how to take my skill to the next level.
